Benoit Le Bars will speak on a panel addressing issues specific to international arbitration in Africa at the 23rd International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Congress, the first in Africa, to be held on May 8-11, 2016 in Mauritius.

Taking place on May 11 and entitled, “Spotlight on Africa: Perspectives on Arbitration” this last plenary session of the congress will feature a panel of 10 leading African and international practitioners who will discuss their experiences arbitrating disputes in African seats and arbitral centers, including the particular benefits and challenges of international arbitration in Africa.

Considered one of the most important events of the year for international arbitration professionals, the choice of venue for ICCA 2016 is particularly noteworthy since it was in Mauritius that the founding Treaty of the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), a key expertise of Benoit Le Bars, was signed in 1993.
